Uoink 3.12.1: Phone inbox, uoink mcp and cleaner buttons
A Phone inbox (Uoink Relay) is off by default. Deploy a small relay to your own Render account, then share links to it from an iOS Shortcut or an Android share target. Uoink captures each link the way uoink capture does and then deletes it from the relay. A link Uoink can't capture is saved as a note, so nothing you share is lost. The relay stores only the link and an optional note, with a 7-day expiry, and the phone's push token is separate from the desktop's pull token. Set it up in Settings > Capture > Phone inbox.
uoink mcp starts the stdio MCP server from the uoink command on PATH, so a client can launch Uoink with "command": "uoink", "args": ["mcp"] and no install path. On Windows, clients that cannot start .cmd files use cmd /c uoink mcp. It runs the same server as before and honors UOINK_MCP_TOOLSET.
Wikipedia articles capture instead of failing as an empty JavaScript page, and they are titled with the article name instead of its short description. Captured web pages get a Library thumbnail from the page's og:image. An X post with a video shows the video's poster on its Library row, and X and Reddit video posts open in the reader as a video with a timed transcript.
Buttons share one style across the dashboard, the extension popup, the setup page and the in-page Uoink buttons, with visible hover, press, keyboard focus and disabled states in light and dark. Each view keeps one primary action. The Windows tray menu uses the Mac menu's words.
Newest first now sorts a library that mixes videos with pages, posts and notes correctly. Topic keywords match whole words, so a page that says “average” no longer files under AI and ML. Opening Settings at a section from another page lands on that section, and the article reader shows italics.
Raycast, Flow Launcher, Alfred and Obsidian integrations are in the source repository. None is in its store yet.
The MCP server still exposes 91 tools, or 35 with UOINK_MCP_TOOLSET=core. The Windows installer is about 519 MB and the Mac preview DMG about 711 MB. The Windows installer is still unsigned, so SmartScreen warns. The Mac build is still a preview for Apple Silicon on macOS 15 or later.
What was tested for 3.12.1
Agent Install 31 tested the installed 3.12.1 build in an isolated profile: 24/24 PASS. Stdio listed 91 full / 35 core / 91 modern tools, and Claude Code 2.1.316 (haiku) connected with 91 tools and called get_schema_version. uoink mcp started the server through both installed launchers, the phone inbox stayed off with no relay set up, and a Wikipedia article captured once its site was allowed. The bundled Whisper model, YouTube captions and an in-place upgrade over 3.12.0 passed again. Codex CLI was not re-tested, and the Mac build was not part of this receipt.
On Windows, reload the browser extension once after updating; Claude Desktop users should reinstall the 3.12.1 bundle and restart Desktop. On a Mac, quit Uoink and close MCP clients before replacing the app.
