what it does

The user-facing part.

You can capture videos without opening the watch pages. Right-click any YouTube or X video link, select the capture option from your browser context menu, and the helper starts the job in the background. It extracts the transcript, comments, and frames while you continue reading your feed. Your new corpus lands in your local library as soon as the background extraction finishes.

getting started

Run the loop.

  1. Hover over any video link on YouTube or X.
  2. Right-click the link to open the context menu.
  3. Select Uoink this video from the menu list.
  4. Look for the tray icon notification confirming the job started.
  5. Open the library folder once the process completes.
behind the scenes

How Uoink handles it.

The extension registers context menu items via the background script. When triggered, it extracts the URL from the target link and relays it to the local helper. The helper runs the extraction asynchronously, checking your allowlist settings before starting. The background worker communicates status updates to the system tray so you know when the file is ready.
