what it does

The user-facing part.

No Uoink cloud database. The helper stores captured transcripts and files on your computer without an account or hosted corpus. Source requests, background polling, model downloads and dependency telemetry still use the network. AI features, connected clients, exports and mirrors can share saved content. Anonymous usage counts are off by default. If you turn them on in Settings, the helper sends one daily report of counts with a random install ID, never content, URLs, titles, file paths or search text.

getting started

Run the loop.

Download the helper without creating an account.
Open the dashboard to see your local files.
Check your network settings to verify loopback connections.
Turn off your internet connection.
Run a search across your library to test the offline index.

behind the scenes

How Uoink handles it.

The helper binds to port 5179 on the loopback interface, meaning it only accepts requests from your own machine. It stores all indexed text in a local SQLite database file. Optional mirrors create additional local copies; sync software watching those folders can upload them.
